Youth Groups

We can work with Youth Groups at weekends or during school holidays.  We like to work closely with course organisers and young people to make sure that any course is successful allowing the young people to have a level of ownership before they even set foot through the door.

Courses can be designed to help Youth Groups meet any accredited outcomes they are working towards.  Often courses will form part of a longer project the young people are participating in.

Often groups will participate in outdoor activities during the day and their accompanying youth workers often use the evening as a time to deliver workshops that directly support the young people’s development.

All courses build on the following areas of a young person’s development:

  • Enjoyment
  • Confidence
  • Social awareness
  • Environmental awareness
  • Activity skills
  • Personal qualities
  • Key skills
  • Health and fitness
  • Motivation for learning
  • Broadening horizons

Examples of Youth Groups and Youth Organisations we have worked with are:

  • Sandwell Shadow Youth Cabinet
  • Detached Youth teams
  • Teenage Pregnancy team
  • Healthy Schools team
  • Looked After Children team
  • Connexions
  • Duke of Edinburgh Scheme through the Youth Service
  • International Duke of Edinburgh Scheme

Please contact the centre to check for availability.

What other groups have said:

“…Going straight up to Wales…amazing, no connection, no wifi…the intensity of the workshops, the activities that they actually picked ‘cos during like most of the activities you needed support of others…these people you don’t know, but you have to work together…that was amazing.”  –  Feedback from participant on an International Conflict Resolution course organised by a London based charity.

“I would like to take this opportunity to say that our residential at Plas Gwynant was very successful, we had a fantastic time. The experienced staff, headed by Dan were brilliant and made our stay a very welcoming and enjoyable one. We loved the approach and the developmental opportunities available. I have visited many outdoor centres in the past 7 years and I have to say that Plas is the first one that provides a unique and outstanding experience for both young people and staff alike. Particularly liked that the staff work together with visiting staff from the onset and activities are not run on a conveyer belt style but organised to meet the needs of the individuals as well as the group. The flexibility to extend an activity if opportunity arises, activities with some risks attached (rather than the 0% risk offered by most centres) as well as challenging young people according to their abilities are all very positive attributes to the centre. The fact that there is developmental stages available makes this centre unique and allows me to be able to return with young people who have been to the centre before knowing that they will be challenged appropriately rather than just repeat a set of activities.”
